Summary: A web is a strange thing with tangled lines all leading to the same point. Your path can be straight, you can go in circles for what seems an eternity or you can end up trapped, stuck forever in the grand design. This web goes beyond life, death, mortal, immortal, elven and half-elven to find one connection in the middle of it all and that connection is Erestor.
Disclaimer: I *sniff* do not any of the characters in this story. They are owned by Tolkien/Jackson.
Warnings: AU Angst, Mpreg, incest, child loss,
Authors Notes: *Despite the name Flinn is not an original char but for the sake of the story *Flinn* must remain *Flinn* for a while. Halda O’line is my own creation and another necessary plot piece that will be explained. AU as in I took canon and pretended I didn’t know it! Deal!
Glorfindel stood at the door watching Erestor work. It had been nearly a month since Erestor had lost their chills and just as long since they had been intimate, in conversation or physically. Erestor was pulling away from him and he did not know how to stop him.
And his love seemed to be changing in smaller ways. Erestor had never been one for bright colors, usually sticking to darker tones, of blue, green, and browns. But it had been weeks since he had seen Erestor in anything besides black or dark gray robes.
He spent less time with the twins and the visiting Legolas and more in the office and the only good that came of it was that Elrond came to have an excess of time on his hands and was more often found strolling with Celebrian or playing with the twins.
“Yes Glorfindel?” Erestor asked breaking the blond from his musings.
“It is time for dinner love.”
“Oh,” Erestor said standing.
“You have been working too hard,” Glorfindel said putting a hand on the small of Erestor’s back, frowning when his lover flinched. Moving his hand to open the door he wondered if anything Erestor’s father would have to say would help.
“Are you looking forward to seeing your father?”
“Yes, but I know his first words will be you are too thin.”
“Is he a large elf?”
“No, though he is about a head taller than you. I look like a small child beside him. Glorfindel nodded. He could see why Erestor would feel that way as Erestor barely reached his shoulders and sounded as if he would barely reach his father’s chest.
As they sat, Glorfindel realized sadly that was the longest conversation they had had in weeks. Moments later Elrond entered the hall laughing a twin under each followed by Thranduil who had Legolas riding on his shoulders, trailed by Celebrian who was laughing at the antics of Elrond and Thranduil and the meal officially began.
Glorfindel watched worriedly as Erestor pushed a tiny portion of food around his plate eating barely enough to feed a bird.
“Erestor must you attempt to blow away?” Thranduil asked and Erestor glared and shoved a large forkful of fish into his mouth.
“No,” Thranduil said casting a glance at the mostly full plate. Erestor forced two more large bites then pushed the plate away standing.
“You don’t want dessert E’stor? They made pie!” Legolas exclaimed shocked having seen these pies earlier in the day.
“Not tonight. Goodnight,” Erestor said quietly and slipped out of the room. He made it to his room before he fell to his knees in broken sobs. He didn’t know if it was hours or seconds later when Glorfindel wrapped his arms around him. Shaking he allowed Glorfindel to carry him to bed and hold him in his arms as he continued to sob. For the first time Erestor had not simply fled sobbing behind a locked door ignoring his lover, and Glorfindel used the time to sooth the elf.
“I didn’t even know,” Erestor whimpered. “Six months and I didn’t have the faintest idea. I didn’t know and now I feel as if I’m dying inside every time I see Elrond or Thranduil…I don’t know what to do. I hate what I think when I look at the twins and Legolas.”
“I am happy to see them, they warm my heart but at the same time I wonder, why are they special why they…”
“Lived?” Glorfindel finished having shared Erestor’s thoughts and feeling just as guilty when he did.
“Yes, and how can I even think such things…I do not like the elf I am becoming. I think I should leave for a little while.”
“Where would you go?”
“There is someone I wouldn’t mind seeing in Lorien, she was like a mother to me. After the last alliance she went to live there and I of course came here. We correspond often. I haven’t told her yet but…”
“I will have to of course wait for ada, and speak to him, he may want to go as well.”
“You have time to decide,” Glorfindel said kissing Erestor’s brow. Erestor sniffed and nodded.
“I love you, I’m sorry that I have been…so distant.”
“I understand, I just wish you would remember that I am here for you. I want to be with you through the it all the good and the bad.”
Erestor blushed feeling slightly guilty. “I know it is just, I sometimes find it hard to confide in you.”
“You are…” Erestor made a sweeping gesture. “I feel so small sometimes, like I could never have your strength.”
“Oh Erestor,” Glorfindel murmured. “Swinging a sword does not make me strong. You are my strength.” He stroked the tear streaked face and kissed the tears away. “Please do not shut me out.”
“I will try,” Erestor said as the comforting kisses turned more passionate moving down his neck and along his collar bone.
Gasping Erestor writhed under Glorfindel, feeling this was more intense then it had ever been before. His moans turned into sobs as Glorfindel kissed down his stomach. The blond head popped up and pulled Erestor’s arm away from his face and again brushed away his love’s tears.
Bringing Erestor close to his chest he simply held him and left the passion for another night. It was clearly out of place now.
“Its alright…shhh…” he whispered stroking the midnight hair until Erestor fell asleep.
