Summary: Erestor leaves Mirkwood to settle in that new valley.
Author’s Notes: Erestor, Thranduil (Adults)”Are you sure about this son?” Nithron asked watching Erestor methodically take apart his chamber.

“Ada, I can’t stay here,” Erestor whispered. “He’s getting married and all on the council thought me to be his pet whore anyway.”

“What?”

“Besides with you as an Advisor what does he need me for?”

“Erestor…”

“I like her, why did I have to like her? Why couldn’t she be some kind of bitch like the others?” Erestor asked his father.

“Because then she would have been out on her ass like all the other would be queens and princesses throughout the years.”

Erestor sighed and flopped onto the bed, his packing forgotten for the moment. Nithron looked down at his son and shook his head. Oropher and he had agreed after the first horribly failed attempt at match making to take Erestor off the drug that kept him from being able to conceive and let nature take its course.

That had been nearly fifty years ago and not once had Erestor been with child. They had never been sure if Erestor had been spared the curse or if it was some fluke. They had seen both Erestor and Thranduil fidget in their seats often enough that they knew Erestor and Thranduil exchanged roles in the bedroom.

“Where will you go?” he asked settling in the bed beside his son, who was still so much smaller, than he was or any other elf for that matter, he could almost pretend Erestor was still that child who thought the world revolved around his father.

“That new place. Imladris, if you had gotten a chance to meet Elrond I think you would have liked him.”

“That’s the little half elf right?”

“Ada he’s older than I am.”

“You know what I mean,” he said not about to Admit Elrond was older than he was as well.

“Well you tower over everyone,” Erestor said with a smile.

“Hush you,” Nithron said tapping a finger against Erestor’s nose. “Have you spoken to Thranduil?”

“I have, he was not happy but he understood. She was there too, we told her together. She admitted to having had someone as well before, though they were truly the best of friends and nothing more. She fell in the war. She made us swear in time we would be the best of friends again.”

“And you wonder why you like her? Rest Erestor.”

“But I…”

“You have taken apart your office and most of your chambers in less than a day. You need rest. Your entire future waits. There is no need to get there exhausted.”

“Yes ada,” Erestor said finally acknowledging how tired his body was and falling asleep.

“You can come in now Thranduil,” Nithron whispered and the new monarch sheepishly walked in.

“How did you…”

“A father always knows, now I told you he was not saying any of those things to ease your heart. He loves you, he always will, but he knows your duty to your people. Your father’s dying wish. He will not stand in the way of that. And I think a part of him wants to know who he is without being Thranduil’s friend, his tag along, the secondary prince.”

Thranduil sighed looking at the now sleeping Erestor. “I don’t t want him to go.”

“But he will, we can’t always get what we want.”
