Flying Lesson

"Line up beside a broom stick stick out your right hand over a broom and say Up!"
Pyra stared at the broom and sighed, with a half hearted 'up' the broom still jumped into her hand banging into her nails. Switching to a left handed grip she checked the damage and sighed. This was much too much like a gym class.
"Continue trying to properly mount the broom I will be right back, with some more brooms for the rest of you."
After sliding off the broom for the third time Pyra glared evilily at the broom until it started to smolder. Turning away she noticed a group of Slythern's walking towards them headed by Malfoy.
"If it isn't broomsticks for idiots," he said pausing in front of Pyra who was the only one not trying to mount the broom.
"Buzz off."
Draco frowned than grinned. "Accio glasses," he said hoping onto his slick black broom as the glasses flew off Pyra's face.
"Shit head give me my glasses."
"Come and get it," Draco said rising higher on the broom.
Pyra hopped on her broom pointed it towards Draco and promtly slid off the back to a eruption of laughter all around as Draco contined to hover about twenty feet away. Though he was little more than a blur Pyra wanted him to implode but figured murder so early in the school year would be frowned upon.
Cursing she launched a fire ball at him but being a Quidditch player had its advantages and with a slight turn he dodged the fire.
Pyra stomped her foot in annoyance as Malfoy laughed and her back started to itch badly so much so that she whirled around to make sure no one had cursed her. But Everyone was just watching her and Malfoy.
Turning back she was sure Draco was now higher up.
"Can't the little muggle raised fly?"
Pyra heard the tearing before she fully realized what it was. Malfoy's eyes got so wide they looked as if they were about to fall out of his skull. The rest of the students simply stared as a set of red, orange, and yellow wings unfurled from Pyra's back.
Pyra wanted to get a look at the wings and they instantly curled around her and she touched the multi colored feathers.
Taking off was as simple as a thought and she hovered over Malfoy, "You were saying?"
Malfoy spun his Nimbus 2001 and flew higher as if his life depended on it. Pyra picked uo speed and tackled Malfoy right off his broom and started a dive to the ground where the blond started to scream and Pyra just moved faster.
Madame Hooch returned then and quickly conjured up a feather bed where Malfoy landed though she realized Pyra did slow her speed. Pyra held out her hand and Malfoy shaking still held out the glasses.
"Twenty points from Gryffendor!" She bellowed and Pyra shrugged as her wings flapped then folded behind her back. Malfoy laughed as he was helped to his feet by Crabble and Goyle."
"Twenty five points from Slythern! How dare you interrupt my class!"
Malfoy cast a glare at Pyra who simply gave him a bright and cheery wave.
"Jacobs!" Pyra turned to Madame Hooch, "Go see Dumbledore, its clear you do not need broom flying lessons."
Pyra walked back into the school bulding and then realized she had no idea where Dumbledore's office was. Stopping the first Professor she saw she groaned inwardly.
"Professor Snape, where is Dumbledore's office?"
Snape gave her a once over eyes settling on the wings and sneered. "Get in a little trouble with those ridiculus appendages?"
"Madame Hooch told me to see him."
"Follow me," he snapped, "and undo whatever foolish spell you did.
"I didn't do any spell, they just grew."
"Wings do not just grow! You are a witch not a bird."
"These did," Pyra mumbled.
"Py Py what did you do?" Pyra's head snapped up as she realized Snape had lead her to Madame Pomfrey instead of Dumbledore.
"Nothing they just grew."
Nausi shook her head and went to get Madame Pomfrey. She took one look at Pyra and then turned to Snape. "Dumbledore," she said simply and was gone.
Snape muttered something she didn't catch and was out of the room. After mouthing the words 'help me'to Nausi she followed out of the room. Down a few halls then in front of a statue. Snape rapped twice and after a few minutes The staute moved aside revealing Dumbledore who nodded at Snape.
"Thank you Severus." The professor nodded and was gone.
"Follow me Pyra my dear."
Pyra followed Dumbledore up to his office and he pointed to a chair right beside a bird who had the same coloring as Pyra's wings. The wings though make it nearly impossible
"Well, Miss Jacobs it seems you will be needing flying lessons of another sort."
"So your gonna teach me how to work these things?"
"No no I will leave that to the expert, Fawkes."
"Who?" Dumbledore pointed. And Pyra looked at the wizard as if he were insane.
